How to get some peace and quiet...

Yesterday morning we all piled in the car and headed to Albert Park Lake for the Million Paws Walk. The walk wasn't due to start until 10am, so we organised to meet up with friends at 9:30am. My goodness, it was busy!! It took us ages to find a car park.

Morgan was pretty overwhelmed by the crowds. I had to carry her to the start line, because she was having a minor freak out. But when we got past the crowds, she was fine. Both girls were pretty chilled out and were keen to just walk along and absorb the goings on in their immediate surrounds.

The walk was around 5 km, which is a very long way for both our girls. From about the halfway point, Morgan took every possible opportunity to sit down and rest. She needed lots of rewards to keep her going, but I refused to be one of those people who carries their dog around the track.

There were plenty of costumes around the walk. Many of them were really lame and some just plain weird, but there was one series of costumes that were worth taking a photo of...
(If you look closely you can see a jedi behind the storm trooper on the right. That stormtrooper's dog is also wearing a doggy stormtrooper outfit, btw)

At the end of the walk, we thought it would be a good idea to get the doggies washed in the hydrobath. Well, that was a big fat waste of $50!! Morgan had her claws clipped, but during the hydrobath she was making such a fuss, the lady who was doing the bathing, decided that if she continued, Morgan would be traumatised for life. So Morgan left half wet. Myf made a fuss, but managed to get washed. When it cam to the blow drier, Myf made such a fuss that the blow drying was abandoned in favour of towelling. That happened to be just as the tv cameras came around. So if Myf did make it to television (which is highly unlikely), it wouldn't have been pretty - wet and very unhappy.

When the torture session was over, we decided that we'd all had enough excitement for one day, so we headed back to the car. It was a very quiet drive home and indeed so was the rest of the afternoon. We hardly heard a peep from them - even as it came close to dinner time.

  2. They crashed out completely ... I think Morgan waas half asleep before you had finished putting the car harness on her :-)

It was hilarious having the camera crew coming along just as Myf started to cause a scene ... even the dog wash lady, who tried to smile at the camera to start with, said they could have been better with their timing.
