Introducing Brigitte

This post goes all the way back to April, when our new car finally arrived. It took what felt like an eternity for the paperwork to be finalised, but the car was eventually ours the weekend after Easter. Her name is Brigitte Peugeot.

We took her out for a drive that Sunday, with the girls (aka dogs) in the back. Myf was rather offended that she had been relegated to the very back of the from the backseat. It didn't matter to Morgan - all car travel is an attempt on her life.

Our first stop was Woodend where we called in at the brewery for refreshments and to stock up our fridge. Cute 'cellar door' and great beer. I highly recommend it.

Next stop was Hanging Rock for a walk with the girls. Dogs aren't allowed up to the rock itself, so we walked around the base. Turned out to be a great move because everyone else was on the other walking trail. It was very quiet and secluded so it was hard to believe it was only an hour out of Melbourne.

We did at one point hear some rustling in the bushes and got the distinct impression we weren't alone... can you see our audience?

We drove home via Daylesford, but didn't stop.

Roadtrip number one was a great success (notwithstanding Morgan), so we're very pleased with our new addition.

Dogs, House and Garden

A brief update on some of the things that have been happening around our house.

We've had our French Roquefort posters framed and they're now hanging in the dining room.

We gave the dogs bones recently. We've held off doing this because of an allergy to red meat, but they really need them for their teeth. They've been a little itchy since the last bones, so we might have to make them less frequent and maybe supplement with antihistamines.

Myf, in true princess Myf style, didn't want to get her paws dirty.

Morgan, however, was happy to get stuck in with both paws.

We've had some success in our vegie patch. We've got some small beetroots and and baby leeks.

That pretty much sums up all the basic around the house news. Stay tuned to read about Stephen's visit, the new car and other social events.

Christmas Has Hit

I organised my work Christmas lunch a couple of weeks ago. I found a great room above a pub for the location and added a Christmas feel with some truffles and rumballs wrapped in red tulle and tied with a red bow. We wrote names on gold crackers for the place names. I think it turned out looking pretty good.

On Friday, Myf and Morgan's Christmas presents arrived from their cousin, Tuppy. Morgan immediately took hers under the dining table to eat, and with good reason!

It's hard not to get into the Christmas spirit with all of this going on, so we thought we'd have a bit of Christmas fun with the dogs...

We did have some difficulties trying to get a family photo though!!

We were much more successful without the Christmas paraphernalia.

A weekend on the beach

Last year fro Christmas, Paul's parents gave us a voucher for a weekend at a dog friendly house in Apollo Bay. We finally got around to using the voucher and it ended up being pretty good timing. You know that feeling you get when you come back from a great holiday and you're depressed and don't want to be here. Well, this gave us something to look forward to.

The house was lovely. It wasn't on the beach, but it was walking distance from the main street and the waterfront, so it was in a great location.

After much coercion and some reluctance on Paul's part, we took the girls down to the beach. Myf had been before, but wasn't keen on the waves. Morgan had never seen the beach before. We found a quiet little spot where a stream met the sea, so the girls could play in the stream and not get buffeted by the waves. Myf was quite hesitant at first, but Morgan thought it was heaven.

I took loads of photos and got quite a few action shots of the girls that I think are hilarious.

This is how it started. Morgan bounding through the water, whilst Myf tests the waters and is careful not to splash.

Who put this ball here? Now I have to get all wet trying to get it out!

They each have to have a ball, otherwise Myf gives up chase and lets Morgan get the ball, as she's faster on her feet and will get it anyway. And Myf needs the exercise!

Myf did eventually get a bit bouncier in the water, but this was towards the end of the second day, so it took her a while to warm up.

After a day (or an hour) at the beach, you need to get in some hard core sleeping, so that you're ready for the next day.

Morgan is such a poser. I think she was a model in a previous life.

Myf is quite the opposite. She just won't sit still for photos. Consequently most photos of her are when she's asleep or when she's playing.
