Myf loved playing Frisbee at Mum and Dad's house in SA. When Mum and Dad heard that we found a park that Myf can run around in, they decided she needed her frisbee back.
Myf recognised the frisbee straight away, and was very keen to play with it. Here she is playing with it. Unfortunately even though she remembers it well, I'm going to need some practice to get my throwing arm back up to scratch.
After all that running, Myf decided she felt like a nice lazy game of catch.

A Trip to the Hairdresser
I have a terrible habit of putting of hair cuts until my hair is really irritating and unbearable. The one good thing about this is that it's always a dramatic change and it means that people notice.
This is my before shot. Probably not a very good one as my hair is up and the lighting's not great, but nevermind. You could always go to the previous post about the road trip to see me in daylight with my hair down.
On Wednesday night I got my hair cut. I LOVE my hairdresser. She's gorgeous and such a lovely person. All the people in the shop are. I think it must be compulsory for hairdressers to be beautiful people.
3 hours of colouring, cutting, styling and chatting later I walked out of the salon looking like this...

Road Trip
On Sunday, we went on a road trip. Tash was driving and her housemate Donna came with us. The final destination was Lorne, but we stopped and looked at the sites along the way. It was a really fun day, and reminded me that sometimes cars can be quite useful (even if they are dirty, stinky, polluting hunks of unattractive metal).
First stop was Torquay. We carefully avoided the beach, so Paul didn't have to get too close to the sand. This photo was taken from the concrete ramp down to the beach. ;)

I like the colour of the tractors against the blue of the sky. It also proves that we do indeed get nice days in Melbourne - even in the middle of Winter ;)
This was my favourite photo of the day. I like the clearness of the water and the undisturbed sand and the shadow of the rock. It just looks so peaceful and tranquil.
Next stop was Bells Beach. Unfortunately Tashy was my only willing model (although I did manage to coerce Paulie a bit later in the day).
There were some crazy people surfing out there in the middle of winter. Brrrrr!!

And here's a surfer's dog waiting patiently. Couldn't imagine Myf doing that!
The next stopoff was at Airey's Inlet - site of the Lighthouse from Round the Twist.

There were also some cool rocks offshore and I finally got Paulie to pose here... albeit without his knowledge at first...

A Progressive Dinner
Tash and I came up with an idea that since we live fairly near each other, we could split a dinner party between our two houses. So last Saturday night we had Soup and Salad at Tash's house and Main and Dessert and mine and Paul's.
Soup was a tuscan tomato soup with veggies.
Salad was a ceasar salad with really yummy, expensive anchovies (yes, you can definitely taste the difference), croutons and parmesan chips.
Main Course was Creamy Garlic Prawns with Asian Greens and steamed rice.
Dessert was a Rhubarb Spice Cake with Rhubarb Compote and Marscapone Cream.
It was a fun night and I'm glad we managed to fit it in before Tash moves further away from us.

Sleepless Nights
Don't you hate those nights when you wake at 2am and can't get back to sleep? You're sure you've woken up because you're worried about something, but then you're not really sure what you should be worrying about. So then you think of all things you've done today and are going to do tomorrow and find reasons to worry about each of those things. Hmmm... maybe it's just me. I'm pretty sure that work is stressing me out with the deadline looming, but I'm also pretty sure that waking at 2am and worrying about it, isn't going to help. Well, at least I finished my book!

The Curse Continues
I have not yet been to a football match that West Coast have won. In fact there have only been 2 games that I have been to, where the team I've been supporting has won.
This weekend was no different. Paul and I went to see Melbourne vs West Coast on Saturday at the MCG. Melbourne won by 20 points. The game wasn't actually that bad. There were some good moments throughout the game. However West Coast seemed unable to deliver the ball cleanly into their forward 50. I guess we've just got to give the young players time to finess their skills, accuracy and consistency. It had better bloody happen when I'm in Melbourne and can get along to the matches though!
The lowlights of the game were bogan supporters. One was a bit of a wanker and decided to have a real go at the umpire. I'm not sure what game he was watching because I didn't think the umpire made a particularly bad call and judging by the lack of boos, neither did the rest of the crowd. It was rather entertaining though and the security guard trying to get him to settle down was even more entertaining.
The next was a larger group of young male bogans. They yelled offensive comments to players and umpires alike. None of which were particularly relevant to the game. I do believe at one stage, the boundary umpire's major flaw was that he was bald. I'm not quite sure how that impacted on his umpiring abilities, but obviously quite significantly if they felt the need to point it out to him. I just don't understand this need to entertain oneself by insulting others. It was totally unnecessary - especially as there were lots of young kids around them. I'm surprised that security didn't tell them to quieten down a little.
The best part of the game was that it was a Melbourne home game, so due to their lack of members, we got front row seats in the members section without even booking in advance. Yay! We had the perfect possie for photography. Unfortunately I was too wrapped up in the game to take many pics, but the ones I did take are here.

Project 31
At the beginning of the year I started doing 'Project 365' where I take a photo every day so I have sort of an image diary for the year. About 2 weeks in, I got busy and/or lost motivation and/or got really slack and it kind of petered out. As the new financial year has just started, I thought it was about time I tried this again. Except this time I think I'm going to start fairly small and work my way up to the full year. I'm starting with project 31 - A photo for every day of July.
If you're interested in following along with my project 31, you can see the pics here.

Ballet Debut
Last night I went to the ballet and I even managed to drag Paul along. Although I've been to lots of modern dance performances, this was my first time at a traditional ballet. It was amazing.
We saw Paris Match by the Australian Ballet Company. The first act was Suite en Blanc, which is a French Ballet that is in traditional style with a bit of an edge. It was really elegant. The second act was Divergence, which is an Australian modern ballet. It still has the traditional movements, but the style itself is is rather modern. It was amazing and truly spectacular. The lighting really complemented the dance. Overall the dancing was breathtaking and the music was superb.
I've been inspired and I want to go to another ballet. I'm thinking perhaps Sleeping Beauty, which is being performed in September...
